Now that we’ve all got over the euphoria that comes with the New Year, we can all look forward to the year ahead, although some trepidation still looms large in light of the continued Euro zone crisis. I personally believe that another exciting business year lies ahead.
Just as we were going to press, we learned of some promising news. The executive council in the UAE approved a number of new development projects for the emirate of Abu Dhabi, specifically in the areas of social services, housing, health and education, which includes construction, renovation and infrastructure projects and the development of new terminal facilities at Abu Dhabi International Airport. As well as two new major road projects and the construction and maintenance of drainage systems in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.

In Dubai, Al Habtoor Group announced the construction of the Habtoor Palace at an estimated cost of $1.33 billion to cater for the recent surge in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Meanwhile regionally, the Ministry of Housing plans to build homes for citizens in 118 cities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
All these projects and many more are bound to stir the construction sector and in turn generate exciting new landscape projects for the landscaping sector in the UAE.
